What’s next for the US tech industry
Moving house is getting a lot easier, but it may take a few more years.
According to a new report from Deloitte, the US technology sector is about to start to experience the greatest growth in a decade.
The US has already surpassed the number of jobs created per year since the Great Recession.
But the jobs created in the tech sector are also the most expensive.
As of the end of last year, the average price for an American tech job was $79,000.
That’s almost three times the median wage.
As the market gets more competitive, the price will only increase, Deloittes report said.
Companies are trying to compete for talent, but the average wage for new hires will be $49,000 in 2021.
For companies that have been in business for more than a decade, that’s not a good deal.
A lot of companies are struggling to keep up with demand, which could have a negative impact on their bottom line, said Paul Graham, chief executive officer of consulting firm Gartner.
“There are a lot of new opportunities for companies that don’t have the same amount of people that are on the payrolls,” he said.
And those opportunities are coming at a high cost, too.
“It’s going to be much more difficult for them to keep those workers at the same level,” Graham said.
